Miranda Otto (Ruth St. Denis) 

Miranda Otto was most recently seen in the hit thriller ANNABELLE: CREATION this summer. She also was seen in season one of 24: Legacy as ‘Rebecca Ingram’, starring opposite Corey Hawkins and Jimmy Smits. Last year, Otto gave an electrifying performance as ‘Allison Carr,’ the Berlin Chief of Station working directly under Saul Berenson (Patinkin), in the fifth season of Showtime and Fox 21’s Emmy Award-winning series, Homeland.

Miranda just wrapped filming Drake Doremus' next film ZOE, rounding out a cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Rashida Jones, Christina Aguilera and Theo James. Otto has starred opposite Geoffrey Rush and Sam Neil in writer/director Simon Stone’s THE DAUGHTER, shot on location in Australia. She recently won an AACTA Award (Australia’s premiere acting awards) as “Best Supporting Actress” for her performance. The film premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival and opened in the United States in January of 2017. In 2014, Otto starred opposite Greg Kinnear in Fox Television’s drama series Rake, and with writer/director/actor Tommy Lee Jones in the period drama THE HOMESMAN. In 2013, she played Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Elizabeth Bishop, in Brazilian director Bruno Barreto’s tragic love story REACHING FOR THE MOON.

In 1999, she was cast as ‘Éowyn’ in Peter Jackson’s international blockbuster, THE LORD OF THE RINGS film trilogy, winning a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING. She co-starred with Tom Cruise in Steven Spielberg’s THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, and was in director John Moore’s FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX.

Originally from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, she is the daughter of Australian actor Barry Otto and former actress Lindsay Otto. Deferring an original plan to study medicine, she began a career in acting and never looked back. She graduated from Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art, whose alumni include Judy Davis and Mel Gibson, and she currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, actor Peter O’Brien, and their daughter.
